Psalter manuscript

Psalm 1: Blessed is that man

Blessed is that man
Who doesn’t sit or stand
Or walk with those whose daily talk
Is wickedness they’ve planned;
But his concern is rather
To glorify and please his father,
Keeping His commands.

He is like a tree,
Deep-rooted by a stream,
Whose boughs are richly filled with fruit,
Whose leaves are evergreen.
In all he does he prospers,
While all the wicked meet disaster,
Withered by God’s wind.

So when they are come
Before God’s judgement throne,
They shall not stand but suddenly
Be wholly overcome.
So after tribulation
The Lord will vindicate His saints and
Claim them as His own!
