Psalter manuscript

Psalm 142: Unto the Lord I cry

Unto the Lord I cry;
Anxious in prayer I sigh,
Seeking the reason why
I am disquieted.

There as my burden grew
I realised that You
My every footstep knew
While pressing on ahead.

They who despise my prayer,
Feeling no shame or care,
Secretly set their snare
For me to stumble in.

No one remembers me;
Friendless I seem to be;
Father look down and see
I am alone again.

Rescue me Lord, I pray;
My portion be today;
Listen to all I say
Here on my hands and knees.

Let not my soul be bound;
Rather let praise resound
Where gathered saints surround
Me in Your temple court.
