Blessed God and Father of Our Lord and Saviour,
In our hearts we humbly kneel before Your throne
Recognising that all nations under heaven
By Your counsel and decree are Yours alone.
Make us mighty in our inward constitution;
By the power of Your Spirit now impart
Holy riches from the treasuries of heaven
Till the wonder of Your glory fills our hearts.
By true faith may Jesus Christ, who is our wisdom,
Dwell unceasingly within this feeble frame,
Till as tender plants deep-rooted in His kindness,
We are made to comprehend with all the saints:
Both the magnitude and fullness of God’s being
Spreading outwards from infinity above,
And the goodness, that exceeds our understanding,
Of the character and scope of Jesus’ love!
Glory be to Him in every generation
Who according to the greatness of His might
Is more willing to perform than we are able
To petition Him when darkness fills the night;
…Till at last His risen Church and all within this universe
Are redeemed and renovated with His light.
