Psalm 42: As a thirsty creature

Resources

As a thirsty creature
Searching for cool water,
So I seek for You!
Things that I remember
Make me weep and wonder,
‘Lord, what can I do?’
Once I led a mighty throng,
Joyfully we went along
While singing hymns together.

Why am I despairing,
Full of anxious caring?
Hope in God again!
From the land of Jordan
I remember Hermon
And His presence then.
Deep to deep his judgement call,
Like a mighty waterfall
With billows rolling over.

Why am I forgotten
Here beneath oppression,
Soul-disturbed within?
Overlook my blindness,
Fill me with Your kindness,
Give me songs to sing.
May His holy countenance
So induce my heart to dance
And praise Him for His mercy.
