Psalm 57: O living God, my Father

Resources

O living God, my Father, send your mercy down to me,
Beneath the shadow of Your wings I find security;
Upon Your sovereign goodness my soul is wholly cast
Until these stormy days are past.

To God whose habitation is above the world most high –
Who orchestrates each circumstance of mine – to Him I cry;
He will confound all scoffers who mock the things I say,
His truth illuminates my way.

I move among ignoble sons as lion’s hunted prey,
Their teeth, like mighty arrows drawn, oppress me all the way;
Whose words are full of fury, like fiercest forest fire;
My feet they draw beneath the mire.

But God who sees the wickedness of all that they have planned
Has set His glory high above the mountains of the land;
The nations are becoming the kingdom of the Son,
Soon false religion will be gone!

Most steadfastly my heart is set to glory in my King,
With psalms of praise each morning I will celebrate and sing;
The tongues of every nation will bless these words I write,
When darkness yields to perfect light!

O living God, my Father, send your mercy down to me,
Beneath the shadow of Your wings I find security.
