Psalm 107: O that the children of Adam and Eve

Resources

O that the children of Adam and Eve
Would give thanks to their Father above
They, from His hand, precious gifts have received
As rich tokens of mercy and love.
We the redeemed from the east and the west
Have been snatched from the clutches of the enemy’s hands
Chased and dispersed to the earth’s farthest coast
We’ve been gathered from far and distant lands.

Through desert highways in hunger and thirst
To the Lord they cried out in distress
Finding no city untouched by sin’s curse
They beseeched Him their children to bless
Under the shadow and darkness of death
Facing torment, affliction and in cold irons bound
Pledging in prayer with true zeal in their breath
‘Lord, in all of our ways let Christ be crowned’.

O that the children of Adam and Eve
Would give thanks to their Father above
They, from His hand, precious gifts have received
As rich tokens of mercy and love.
Broken in pieces, the chains on our feet
He’s removed by the providence and pow’r of His hands
Washed by His word we’ve been saved from defeat
Learning always to heed what He commands.

Merchants and sailors who travelled the seas
There beheld mighty wonders He’s made,
They, as great hurricanes calmed to a breeze,
In the depths of their hearts, were dismayed.
Guided by God to safe haven ahead
They, secure in their trust, came at last to their goal
Spared and set free from this world’s foulest dread
They rejoiced with His peace within their soul.

O that the children of Adam and Eve
Would give thanks to their Father above
They, from His hand, precious gifts have received
As rich tokens of mercy and love.
Deserts transformed as fresh rainfall descends
Are renewed till a city, safe and strong, fills that place
Likewise the ones who upon God depend
He upholds and defends before His face.

O that the children of Adam and Eve
Would give thanks to their Father above
They, from His hand, precious gifts have received
As rich tokens of mercy and love.
