You are my food and drink, O Lord,
Let me Your favour see;
Since I would seek to keep Your word
Be merciful to me.
When solemn thoughts disturbed my way
I turned my feet without delay.
I follow all Your just decrees
And magnify Your Law;
Yet there are many all around
Who stubbornly ignore
The course of duty which demands
Respect for each of Your commands.
If midnight finds me wide awake
With thankfulness I’ll rise
And bless the Judge of all the earth
Whose every way is wise.
With Christian friends to aid my stride
I’ll work for righteousness worldwide.
