Psalm 122: Glad was I to hear God’s call

Glad was I to hear God’s call,
‘Let us to God’s house ascend;
Stand within the city walls
You who love Jerusalem’.

Tribes belonging to the Lord
Shall within her gates unite,
Going up to hear His word
Thankful for His truth and light.

Thrones within her courts sublime
For the judgment Day are bound,
When the heirs of David’s line
Shall the rebel proud confound.

Let us pray for Zion’s peace
As her constant, faithful friend;
‘May the strife within her cease
That her ways all may commend.’

May the peace of Jesus Christ
Be with every faithful son;
Who, through living sacrifice,
Soon shall Satan overcome.
