I stumbled across this remarkable film / documentary this last weekend. What a fascinating proposition – one that rings true with what I’ve come to believe myself. The enemy is subtle and we should never be surprised if we unearth aspects of his plan to subvert the cause of Christ through real subterfuge bearing a mask of decency. Self-deception is a real phenomenon. Sin’s nature is to convince us that we are OK. It wants us to suppose that there’s nothing so badly broken in our lives and experience that needs fixing. We are typically schizophrenic. We convince ourselves that we’re fine whilst all along, deep down in our heart of hearts, we recognise the tell tale symptoms of anarchy and rebellion against our Maker. Christians are simply ‘fair minded’ human beings who, having been confronted with their condition (“the disease of conceit”), by the Holy Spirit’s regenerating power and conviction, have turned their minds over to seek after God and the glory of His kingdom (true repentance). May it please God to make good use of film documentaries such as this to convince and persuade ‘fair-minded’ others to likewise bow the knee to King Jesus and do all in their power to reverse the present trend. Happily, the Scriptures assure us that such a revival and restoration of ALL things will in God’s good time, take place. Hallelujah. Amen!
