If Egypt be the ground of what you know,
You’ll be cursed
As you go
Or maybe worse!
If Scripture’s not the fortress of your mind
God’s defamed
And you will find
Reproach and shame
Make Christ your counsel and advice
Don’t be wise in human eyes;
The strength of pharaoh by and by
Like fickle man is doomed to die,
Is doomed to die!
When will the Christian Church begin to hear
Heaven’s voice
Above the noise
Of brawling boys?
Disdain O man false shepherds who pretend
They know the score
But then ignore
God’s holy Law.
Make Christ your counsel and advice
