Ordinate Affections

This article Ordinate Affections raises an important enquiry into when and whether Christians ought to exercise themselves emotionally.  We live in a postmodern, politically correct culture that brow beats us into thinking that any display of passion – especially hatred or disdain – is to be faulted.  CS Lewis argues cogently for the development of ‘ordinate affections’ in us.  Jonathan Edwards (18th century theologian of Revival in New England) argues for the ‘raised exercise of the affections’ in a sanctified saint.  May the Lord help us to comprehend His will however loud the voices of opposition rage against Him!
