Your word will guide my footsteps
When darkness fills my way,
As when a burning candle
Turns night time into day.
I’ve sworn an oath to follow
Your perfect law, O Lord;
Send liberty and help to me
According to Your word.
Accept the free will offerings
Of everything I say,
Then teach my heart Your statutes
To guide me on my way,
For every fleeting moment
My life is in my hands.
Me rescue please from enemies
Who slander Your commands.
A heritage forever,
Your laws I’ve set apart
Which carry overwhelming
Rejoicing to my heart;
My soul I have instructed
To keep forever more
The wise decrees which You were pleased
To publish as Your Law.
